Hello! I'm

Hello! I'm Gem Win Cañete

It's a mix of my mom's and father's name (Gemma and Winnie btw)

I’m a Product Designer fresh out of college, with internship experience at Symph where I worked on a major product called Find My Shots. That experience gave me a good sense of how teams actually work, like collaborating with others, taking initiative, and understanding what it’s like to build within real constraints.

I’m comfortable moving across UI/UX and Frontend, which helps me think beyond just screens. I like understanding how things work, not just how they look, and I use AI tools to speed up parts of my workflow when it makes sense.

IN MY EXPERIENCE
During my internship, I got to contribute to real product features and see how ideas move from discussions to actual implementation. Being involved in both design and development helped me become more aware of edge cases, usability issues, and how small decisions impact the overall experience.

MY PROCESS
My process usually starts with asking a lot of questions. I like doing audits first, figuring out what’s working, what’s not, and confirming those with stakeholders. From there, I narrow things down: what’s actually needed, what can be simplified, and what might cause issues later on. I spend a lot of time thinking through flows and edge cases before jumping into UI. Sometimes I also implement parts of what I design, which helps me stay practical and grounded in what’s feasible.

My go to music spans from Lofi - YOASOBI to Ariana

What are my future aspirations 5 years from now?

I hope to be far from who I am right now. Mentally mature, good with craft and people and in a different place
